Coordinator Pees checks out OK

New England Patriots defensive coordinator Dean Pees was taken to a Houston-area hospital during the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Houston Texans with shortness of breath, the team confirmed.

The 60-year-old Pees, who was hospitalized strictly as a precaution, underwent a battery of tests Sunday night and passed them all, team spokesman Stacey James said.

Pees did not travel back with the team after the game but instead returned Monday. He is expected to dive back into a full workload upon returning as the Patriots prepare to face the Baltimore Ravens in a first-round playoff game Sunday at Gillette Stadium.

All indications are that he was not rushed to the hospital and this was not an emergency situation. According to the team, Pees walked out of Reliant Stadium under his own power.

Boston sports radio station WEEI was the first to report the news.
