Dennard out of detention center

New England Patriots cornerback Alfonzo Dennard has been released from an adult detention center in Lancaster Country, Neb., a center administrator told ESPNBoston.com.

Dennard served 35 of a possible 60 days following a violation of his probation stemming from an April 2012 arrest, for which he was convicted of felony assault of a police officer in an incident outside a Lincoln, Neb., bar just days before the 2012 NFL draft.

The 24-year-old cornerback was arrested again in July 2013 on suspicion of driving under the influence, which violated his previous probation.

His legal issues did not impact his availability on the field, as he finished his second season in 2013, starting nine of the 13 games he played. He had 40 tackles and one interception, then added two more interceptions in the playoffs.

Dennard's original arrest impacted his draft status, as he slid into the seventh round after being projected by many experts to land in the top two rounds.
