BRISTOL, Conn. -- Police divers returned for a second day of searching in a pond in the Connecticut hometown of Aaron Hernandez, the former New England Patriots player who is charged with murder.
Authorities received a tip from someone saying that the murder weapon used to kill Odin Lloyd, a .45 caliber Glock, may have been tossed into the lake, according to multiple reports.
Authorities have declined to comment on the search of a 54-acre man-made pond at Pine Lake Park in Bristol, except to confirm it is related to the Hernandez investigation.
Police are expected to resume their search Wednesday.
Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to murder in the death of Lloyd, a 27-year-old Boston semi-professional football player whose body was found June 17 about a mile from Hernandez's home in North Attleborough, Mass.
Divers spent eight hours Monday at the pond, which has an average depth of 4½ feet and is 12 feet at its deepest point.
