Danny Amendola practices for Pats

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Receiver Danny Amendola, who was held out of practices last week and didn't play in the New England Patriots' 40-9 preseason loss to the Detroit Lions, returned to practice Monday.

Amendola had been hobbled after playing 20 snaps in the team's Aug. 16 preseason win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but the injury (specific details of which have not been released) was never considered serious enough to threaten his availability for the Sept. 8 regular-season opener against the Buffalo Bills.

In the time that reporters were present at practice, Amendola looked like he was a full participant with no restrictions

"I felt good today," he said after practice. "Everybody was flying around, everybody looked good. Coming off a couple days off, we were ready to get back at it. So it was a good day."

When asked his level of concern about missing time last week, he said, "I'm not concerned. We've had a lot of good reps this camp so far and we're going to continue to work and continue to get better."

Elsewhere, defensive end Jermaine Cunningham, who has missed all three preseason games because of an undisclosed injury, was dressed in pads for practice. He worked mostly with members of the team's strength and conditioning staff on the lower practice field, away from the rest of the team.

Tight end Rob Gronkowski, who is on the active/physically unable to perform list, was spotted working on the lower practice field with the team's assistant strength and conditioning coach. He wore a T-shirt and shorts, while all other players were in full pads.
