BC lands recruit Darmstatter

Boston College landed one of its top football recruits as Jarrett Darmstatter of Barnegat, N.J., has verbally committed to play for the Eagles.

Listed at 6-foot-4 and 242 pounds, Darmstatter, the No. 32nd-ranked tight end in the country by Scouts, Inc., chose BC over Purdue. He also had considered Rutgers, Syracuse and Central Florida.

"I wanted to stay on the East Coast, and academics was a big part of the decision," Darmstatter told the Press of Atlantic City. "It was a tough one because it was down between Boston and Purdue and they are both great schools. But it came down to where and location, and Boston was easier for me and my family to get to."
