LONDON -- British middleweight Adrian Dodson was banned for 18 months and fined $1,671 Monday for biting an opponent. The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBC) said the 29-year-old had brought the sport into disrepute during his Commonwealth title bout against Canada's Alain Bonamie in London on Oct. 5. Dodson told reporters afterward that he felt harshly treated since Mike Tyson had been given a lesser sentence for chewing Evander Holyfield's ear. Former heavyweight world champion Tyson was suspended from boxing for 15 months for biting off a piece of Holyfield's ear in a June 1997 title bout.
