TUNICA, Mississippi (Ticker) -- Byron Mitchell got off to a quick start but ran out of gas and had to rally to hang on to his WBA super middleweight title with a draw against Bruno Girard of France. Mitchell (20-0-1) was dominant early but let Girard get off the hook. The challenger capitalized on the momentum and dominated the middle rounds to earn the draw. One judge scored the bout 115-113 for Girard, another had it 116-114 for Mitchell while the third had it even, 114-114. Mitchell, who was making his initial title defense, saw his streak of consecutive knockouts ends at six. Girard fell to 36-2-2.
