REGINA, Saskatchewan (Ticker) -- Derrell Mitchell scored three touchdowns to lead the Toronto Argonauts to a 36-28 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the season opener for both teams. After Toronto's Jacob Marini kicked a 26-yard field goal to open the scoring, Mitchell took over. He caught a 24-yard touchdown pass from Jimmy Kemp with 41 seconds left in the first quarter and a 33-yarder in the opening minute of the second period. The Roughriders closed to 20-15 at halftime on two TD passes by Henry Burris before Mitchell struck again. He raced 45 yards with a lateral just over five minutes into the third quarter, giving Toronto a 27-15 lead. A one-yard scoring run by Mike Jenkins 52 seconds into the final period gave the Argonauts a 34-18 lead. They added a pair of singles off a punt before Burris closed the scoring with a nine-yard TD toss to Eric Guilford with 1:45 to go.
