BOX SCORE
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) -- Damon Allen set a CFL record and David Benefield tied one as the B.C. Lions raced to a 36-26 victory over the Toronto Argonauts. Allen completed 14-of-27 passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns, both to Alfred Jackson. Allen has 3,397 career completions, moving past current Hamilton Tiger-Cats coach Ron Lancaster as the CFL's all-time leader. Benefield matched the league mark with two blocked punts in a game. He returned one 30 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter to give the Lions (3-4) a 33-11 lead. Derrell Mitchell caught 10 passes for 196 yards and three TDs for the Argonauts (1-5). Allen threw a 19-yard TD pass to Jackson in the first quarter and Robert Drummond ran two yards for a score midway through the second period before Benefield's first blocked punt resulted in a safety, giving the Lions a 19-4 halftime lead. Mitchell caught a 68-yard TD pass from Jimmy Kemp to open the third quarter but Allen found Jackson with a six-yard scoring toss and Benefield's return gave BC a 22-point bulge. In the fourth quarter, Mitchell hauled in TD passes of 29 and 27 yards from Kemp, who was 25-of-39 for 344 yards.
