Argos drop Eskimos to halt road skid

EDMONTON, Alberta (Ticker) -- Tony Burse scored on a 2-yard run in the opening minute of the fourth quarter as the Toronto Argonauts stopped a three-game road losing streak with a 20-16 victory over the Edmonton Eskimos on Sunday.

Ryan Terry rushed for 165 yards on 24 carries for the Argonauts (6-6), who moved within two points of second-place Hamilton in the Eastern Division.

Toronto rallied from a 13-point deficit behind a pair of field goals from Dan Giancola and a 74-yard touchdown pass from Jimmy Kemp to Derrell Mitchell. Kemp completed 18 of 23 passes for 220 yards with two interceptions.

The Eskimos' offense never reached the end zone. Jon Baker kicked three field goals and Terry Ray scored on a 92-yard fumble return for Edmonton (4-8), which suffered its fourth straight home loss.

The Eskimos were outgained 420-202. Quarterback Kevin Mason was the leading rusher with 82 yards on 10 carries. He also was 12-for-31 for 122 yards with three interceptions.
