Before St. Louis fans soured on the Cardinals and the franchise moved, they were treated to the blocking of Dan Dierdorf and safety blitzes of Larry Wilson. Football has since returned with the Rams and "The Greatest Show on Turf" led by the magical play of running back Marshall Faulk. Chiefs fans are hungry for another Super Bowl (the team hasn't been since Hank Stram roamed the sidelines and Len Dawson called the plays) and they make up for it with barbecue that covers the Arrowhead parking lot with smoke and noise that blankets the stadium.
Dan Devine's Tigers scratched out 13 consecutive winning seasons, including a 1960 Orange Bowl win. Don Faurot, who created the split-T formation, coached the Tigers to three Big Six titles and two Top 10 finishes in the 1930s and '40s. In addition to playing football, the University of Missouri established the tradition of Homecoming when the then athletic director Chester Brewer asked all alumni to "come home" in 1911. NFL Hall of Fame tight end Kellen Winslow was born in St. Louis and played for the Tigers.
Missouri fan Mekram Mohammad: This Missouri Tigers football season is like a stack of pancakes. I usually like my pancakes simple, just a short stack with maple syrup. For special occasions I might add some powdered sugar and fresh fruit. But I always make sure not to bite off more than I can chew. The season started well, covered in syrup and hype.
