Report: Bulls still eyeing Frank

Vinny Del Negro may have escaped the pre-Christmas departure that befell previous Chicago Bulls coaches Tim Floyd and Scott Skiles, but that doesn't mean his job is entirely secure.

Bulls management has recently said that Del Negro has their full support, but ESPN.com's Marc Stein reported two weeks ago that the team has taken a look at former New Jersey Nets coach Lawrence Frank. Yahoo! Sports recently characterized it as "background work."

Team owner Jerry Reinsdorf has also consulted with a league associate about a potential replacement for Del Negro, Yahoo! reports.

The Bulls are 4-13 in their last 17 games -- including a loss to the Kings that was the second largest comeback win in NBA history as Del Negro's team squandered a 35-point lead.

But the Bulls have been plagued with injuries this season, including an ankle injury that slowed star point guard Derrick Rose and a broken arm that has kept forward Tyrus Thomas out of the lineup since November. Those problems seem to be subsiding, with Thomas expected to play Saturday and Rose picking up his game, including a career-high 32 points against the Atlanta Hawks on Dec. 19.
