CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bulls will continue their free-agent recruiting process on Friday by hosting Toronto Raptors star Chris Bosh, according to a source close to the situation.
Bosh, who's represented by Chicago-based agent Henry Thomas, met with the Houston Rockets after the clock struck midnight in the East on Thursday, formally opening the NBA free-agent window. He talked to the Rockets in Dallas, his hometown, then flew to Chicago for the midafternoon session with the Miami Heat contingent led by team president Pat Riley.
Riley was joined for the Bosh visit by team owner Micky Arison and Heat great Alonzo Mourning, among others. It's believed the same group will accompany Riley for his meeting in Cleveland on Friday with two-time NBA MVP LeBron James.
"It was good. It was good, real good," Bosh said Thursday evening outside his agent's office in downtown Chicago.
He also said he had "no offers yet." Later, Bosh met with the New Jersey Nets and posted on Twitter the "meeting was very good as well. These guys really know how to sell a franchise."
Earlier, he had posted that Heat president "Pat Riley is very passionate about winning."
Bosh told the AP earlier this week that Miami is one of his top choices during the free-agent period.
"Honestly, I'm ready to get this thing over with," Bosh told the AP earlier this week. "When the time is right, I want to start aggressively negotiating with everybody and talk to everybody, to get this thing over with. Because you know, it's been a four-year thing now and people have been talking about it for at least two years. We're well past it. I'm well past it. It's time to get it over with."
The Bulls, who spent the opening day of NBA free agency on Thursday by visiting with Dwyane Wade at the United Center, also will host David Lee on Friday.
A Chicago contingent of chairman Jerry Reinsdorf, general manager Gar Forman, vice president John Paxson and coach Tom Thibodeau, will travel to northeast Ohio on Saturday to make a pitch to LeBron James, ESPN Chicago has confirmed.
"He's played the same number of years as Dwyane and LeBron," Thomas recently said of Bosh. "The furthest he's gone is the first round of the playoffs. Never really been on a team that felt like they had a chance to win something. This is a kid that won a state championship on an undefeated team his senior year of high school in Dallas. He hasn't really been on a great team since."
The Bulls have approximately $30 million in cap space to spend on free agents.
