Agent: Bulls interest Brewer

CHICAGO -- Free-agent swingman Ronnie Brewer is interested in playing for the Chicago Bulls, according to his agent, Henry Thomas.

The interest from Brewer's camp could now be matched by the Bulls. The team had signed J.J. Redick to a lucrative offer sheet that the Orlando Magic matched Thursday night.

That leaves the door open for Brewer, who would fit nicely into the young core the Bulls have been building. New Bulls acquisition Kyle Korver said he texted Brewer about possibly joining the Bulls during his introductory news conference on Tuesday.

Brewer is expected to garner a lot of interest from the Jazz, who have indicated they won't match the $34 million offer sheet Wesley Matthews signed with the Portland Trail Blazers earlier this week as long as swingman Raja Bell, with whom they reached an agreement Thursday, passes his physical.

Brewer, 25, started off last season in Utah before being dealt to the Memphis Grizzlies near the trade deadline. He played only five games with the Grizzlies before suffering a season-ending hamstring injury. He averaged nine points and three rebounds last season after averaging almost 14 points during the 2008-09 season.
