DEERFIELD, Ill. -- Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose said Monday that he believes his ulcer problem is behind him for the time being.
"It's not painful anymore," he said of his stomach. "I can sleep good. Other than me eating too much and it hurt, I'm feeling all right."
Rose's problems started early last week, and doctors found the ulcers Wednesday. Despite the pain, he played in wins over Orlando and Indiana on Friday and Saturday, scoring 22 points against the Magic and 20 against the Pacers.
Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau is still impressed Rose was able to play through so much pain.
"It just speaks volumes as to who he is," Thibodeau said. "He's a great leader. He wasn't feeling his best, but he was out there giving everything he had, and we didn't know whether it was going to be five minutes, 10 minutes, but it says a lot about him. I think it was inspiring to his teammates. He felt a lot better [Sunday]. And today he was great."
After believing that he lost 6 or 7 pounds a few days ago, Rose reported that he was almost back to his original playing weight of 213. He weighed in at 211 after practice Monday.
"Obviously, he feels a lot better," Thibodeau said. "He looks better. He was high energy today in practice, which was encouraging from start to finish."
