CHICAGO -- Ben Averkamp had 23 points and eight rebounds and Loyola of Chicago never trailed in beating Rockhurst 69-46 Monday night.
Walt Gibler contributed 13 points and Denzel Brito scored 10 for the Ramblers (4-7), who have won three in a row. Loyola shot 54 percent in the first half in building a 35-13 lead. The Hawks made just 5 of 22 shots before the break, or 23 percent.
The Ramblers finished at 51 percent compared to 35 percent for Rockhurst (5-5).
Kareem Amedu scored nine points to lead Rockhurst, a Division II school from Kansas City, Mo.
