Bears cut LB June

CHICAGO -- Cato June's tenure with the Chicago Bears was a brief one, as the team announced Monday it had released the veteran linebacker, just two weeks after signing him to a one-year contract.

June, who was brought in as insurance after Lance Briggs suffered nee and hip injuries against the Minnesota Vikings, was active during the Bears victory over St. Louis, but did not dress Sunday versus Green Bay.

Offensive lineman James Martin has been called up from the practice squad to take June's spot on the active roster.
