DePaul's Eric Wallace out for season

CHICAGO -- Three days before DePaul's opening practice, the Blue Demons already are facing adversity.

The school announced Tuesday that 6-foot-7 junior forward Eric Wallace will miss the entire 2010-11 season after fracturing his left tibia and fibula during a workout earlier this month.

Wallace, who was expected to start this season, averaged 6.3 points and 4.9 rebounds in 24 games last season for DePaul. He sat out the 2008-09 season after transferring from Ohio State. Wallace could be granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA due to his injury.

"This is a tough situation for Eric, but with the care of our sports medicine staff and his hard work in rehab, we believe he can make a full recovery," DePaul coach Oliver Purnell said in a statement.
