LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Chicago Bears middle linebacker Brian Urlacher has been named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in a 30-12 victory over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1.

Urlacher recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown, made a beautiful diving interception and tied for the team lead with 10 tackles. He also posted a tackle for a loss.

The middle linebacker, a seven-time Pro Bowl selection, was the 2005 NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He was the NFC Defensive Player of the Month last December.
