Bears waive Brian Iwuh

The Chicago Bears waived linebacker Brian Iwuh, the team leader in special teams tackles.

The team elevated linebacker Patrick Trahan from the practice squad to take his place on Tuesday.

A sixth-year veteran, Iwuh suffered a minor hamstring strain Sunday in the club's 25-20 loss to the Oakland Raiders. The injury wasn't expected to sideline Iwuh for an extended period of time, and interestingly, the team had been entertaining conversations just Sunday about a possible contract extension, according to sources.

In his second season with the Bears, Iwuh was leading the team in special-teams tackles (14) going into the matchup with Oakland.

Iwuh has played in 26 games with one start for the Bears and had posted 30 tackles.

Over his career, Iwuh has played in 84 games with four starts.
