Sources: Keith won't face sanctions

The NHL is not planning on taking any action against Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith after he squirted a fan with water from the penalty box, according to league sources.

A YouTube clip showed a fan striking up a conversation with Keith during Game 4 of the Hawks' Western Conference quarterfinals series against the Predators in Nashville on April 22. While Keith was serving his penalty, the fan asked questions through a partition in the Plexiglas about Keith's salary.

Then, as Keith rose to leave the box, the fan joked about a family member "pulling the fire alarm at the hotel." At that point, Keith took a bottle and squirted water at the fan through the partition.

Keith and the Blackhawks eliminated the Predators in six games and will face the Vancouver Canucks in the second round. He was also named one of three finalists for this year's Norris Trophy, awarded annually to the league's top defenseman.
