CHICAGO -- Corey Crawford said he will start in net Wednesday night for the Chicago Blackhawks against the Nashville Predators.
"Any games I can get I will take them," Crawford said. "It's always more fun to be in the net than sitting on the bench.
"The more I play the better I feel. The first one is good to get out of the way. The speed is a lot different from preseason."
It will be the second straight start for Crawford, who posted Chicago's only win this season Monday in Buffalo. The Blackhawks had said it was predetermined that Crawford would start against the Sabres.
The Blackhawks allowed Stanley Cup-winning goaltender Antti Niemi to walk away after deciding the arbitrator's ruling on Niemi's salary was too high.
Chicago then signed former Dallas Stars starter and free agent Marty Turco to replace Niemi.
Turco started the first two games. The Blackhawks lost the season opener in overtime 4-3 in Colorado, and dropped their home opener Saturday against the Detroit Red Wings 3-2.
"Nothing surprises me anymore," Turco said. "Even though it's early, there is an emphasis on winning here. It's still my most favorite thing about the Blackhawks.
"We have a ton of games coming up. He played well, we won. That's as far as I look at it."
Turco said he doesn't feel more pressure playing for the defending Stanley Cup champs.
"I've won a few games in the league," he said. "I would like to get my first as a Blackhawk, no doubt, but I don't feel any more pressure than I do nightly to win, period. Whether it's my first for this team or my 500th."
Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said he spoke to the goaltenders about the move on Tuesday.
"We wanted to give him a home start and give him a chance after a win as well," Quenneville said. "It's early. It's only Game 4. We want to keep him [Crawford] in the mix. Everybody is going to play. Marty is going to play a lot of hockey for us this year ... We'll be fine."
