CHICAGO -- Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville didn't dismiss the possibility of using two goaltenders in the playoffs.
"You never know," Quenneville said prior to Sunday's game with the Nashville Predators. "I don't want to say no. We'll see. It's nothing I'm worried about right now."
The Blackhawks' Corey Crawford and Ray Emery have both been among the league's top goaltenders. Crawford is 15-4-4 with a 2.01 goals-against average (4th in the NHL) and .922 save percentage (tied for 10th). Emery is 13-1-0 with a 1.95 goals-against average (tied for 2nd) and .923 save percentage (9th).
Quenneville chose Emery to start against the Predators on Sunday after he made 20 saves in a 1-0 win over Predators in Nashville on Saturday. It was Emery's second shutout in his last three starts.
"He's coming off a rock-solid win," Quenneville said. "Deserves to get consideration to get right back in there."
Quenneville gave Crawford the same consideration in their last back-to-back games. Crawford made 33 saves in a 7-1 road win over the Detroit Red Wings on March 31. Quenneville started him the following day against the Predators in Chicago, and Crawford made 25 saves in a 3-2 shootout win.
Quenneville said the goaltenders' performances down the final stretch of the regular season could also determine their playoff roles.
"I would think all that stuff will get resolved in how we're going," Quenneville said. "The decisions will be made by what's going on."
