DePaul senior forward Keisha Hampton will miss the remainder of the season and end her college basketball career after having exploratory right knee surgery earlier this week, the school announced on Sunday.
Hampton, who was a preseason All-American, had averaged 16.6 points in 12 games this season. She had played in one game since Dec. 13.
"Keisha Hampton has been one of the greatest players in DePaul history," DePaul coach Doug Bruno said in a statement. "Her presence and her ability to take over a game will definitely be missed. Losing any player to an injury is one of the only things that stinks about coaching."
Hampton has 1,574 career points, which is the most by any active Big East player.
Earlier this week, DePaul announced it would be without freshmen Alexa Gallagher (right knee) and Chanise Jenkins (left ankle) for the season.
Taylor Pikes, last season's Big East sixth man of the year, has yet to play a game for the Blue Demons as she is currently recovering from a knee injury she sustained against Penn State in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
"The silver lining to losing four key players at one time is that the remaining healthy players have stepped up in this adversity," Bruno added. "I have been very impressed with the resolve that our healthy players have shown during this season."
DePaul is coming off a 60-52 loss at Providence. The Blue Demons, who are left with nine healthy players, host Pitt next Saturday.
