Answer for Oct. 10, 1926
With the postseason continuing, we present another autumn classic.

This is the box score from Game 7 of the 1926 World Series and it was a fantastic game. Babe Ruth homered for the fourth time in the series, the Cardinals rallied from a 1-0 lead and with the bases loaded and two out in the seventh and second baseman-manager Rogers Hornsby brought in Grover Cleveland Alexander to relieve starter Jesse Haines.

Alexander, who was 39, had pitched two complete game victories already in the series -- the second one was in Game 6 the day before. Still, Alexander struck out Tony Lazzeri to end the inning.

But the drama wasn't over. With two out in the ninth, Ruth worked the count to 3-2 before drawing his 11th walk of the series. Ruth then tried to get into scoring position by stealing second (he had done so in Game 6) but was thrown out to end the game and the series.

A Hall of Fame second baseman bringing in a Hall of Fame pitcher on no days rest to seal a Game 7 victory that eventually ends when the greatest player of all time is caught stealing? Whew.
