Saturday, December 30
noon - 1969 Rose Bowl highlights
Ohio State vs. USC
Down 10-0, #1 Ohio State rallies to beat #2 USC 27-16 despite Heisman winner O.J. Simpson's 80-yard TD run. The Buckeyes win gives them the national championship.
1 p.m. - 1992 Orange Bowl
Miami vs. Nebraska
Top-ranked Miami flaunted its prolific team speed and impenetrable defense in overpowering No. 11 Nebraska 22-0 in the 58th Orange Bowl. The Hurricanes survived penalties, dropped passes and other mistakes to claim their fourth national championship in eight years.
3 p.m. - 1983 Sugar Bowl
Penn State vs. Georgia
Penn State claimed the national championship for the first time in its 96 years of football and 17 seasons under Coach Joe Paterno with a thrilling 27-23 victory over Georgia in the 49th Sugar Bowl game. Todd Blackledge, the quarterback, led Penn State with 13 completions for 228 yards and the final touchdown.
5 p.m. - 1994 Rose Bowl
Wisconsin vs. UCLA
With a wide-open field before him, Darrell Bevell took off and ran 21 yards for what proved to be the touchdown that gave Wisconsin its first Rose Bowl win in four tries -- a 21-16 heart-pounding victory over UCLA on Saturday.
7 p.m. - 1978 Rose Bowl
Washington vs. Michigan
Washington beats Michigan 27-20 behind passing of game MVP Warren Moon. UW takes early 24-0 lead and holds on for the victory with two interceptions at end of game, including the final one at the UW three-yard line with under a minute to play.
Sunday, December 31
noon - Up Close Classics: Legendary Coaches of College Football
12:30 p.m. - 1971 Rose Bowl Highlights
Stanford vs. Ohio State
Heisman winner Jim Plunkett leads Stanford to a 27-17 upset win over the #1-ranked Buckeyes.
1 p.m. - 1992 Sugar Bowl
Florida vs. Notre Dame
The Irish proved they belonged in the Sugar Bowl with a come-from-behind 39-28 victory. Notre Dame, held to 31 yards rushing in the first two quarters, erupted for 293 rushing yards in the second half. Jerome Bettis had 127 of his 150 rushing yards and all three touchdowns in the final two quarters and was named the game's Most Valuable Player.
3 p.m. - 1994 Orange Bowl
Florida State vs. Nebraska
Bobby Bowden and his heavily favored Seminoles escaped with an 18-16 victory in the Orange Bowl to win their first national championship. Freshman Scott Bentley kicked four field goals, including a 22-yarder with 21 seconds left. After Tommie Frazier's 29-yard completion to Trumane Bell kept Husker hopes alive, senior Byron Bennett hooked a 45-yard field goal attempt wide left on the final play.
5 p.m. - 1985 Rose Bowl
USC vs. Ohio State
In a usual day at the Rose Bowl, No. 18 Southern Cal rolled to an 11-point halftime lead, then held on to defeat No. 6 Ohio State, 20-17. Tim Green, a senior with an erratic left arm who was taken off the redshirt list early in the season because of an injury to another quarterback, led a maligned USC offense to a 17-6 lead at halftime. The Trojans then hung on for the win.
7 p.m. - 1981 Orange Bowl
Oklahoma vs. Florida State
Some would call it a trick play the way Oklahoma beat Florida State, 18-17, in the Orange Bowl. Oklahoma, which used the forward pass about as often as it snows in Miami, actually won a game with it. With 1:27 left, J.C. Watts passed 11 yards to wide receiver Steve Rhodes for the touchdown, then completed a two-point conversion pass to wide-open tight end Forrest Valora for the win.
