THE PLAY

Like a starlet who needs no makeup to show her beauty, it is known simply as The Play. Cal pulled a little rugby on archrival Stanford in 1982, using five laterals to go 57 yards with no time on the clock to beat the Cardinal, 25-20. Kevin Moen started the chain and came around to finish it, traveling the last few yards through the Stanford band. After 25 years, Cardinal fans still have the same reaction: Dwight Garner's knee was down.
