Urban Meyer retires, Ryan Day steps in: how recruits are reacting

When news broke that Urban Meyer was retiring as Ohio State's head coach and offensive coordinator Ryan Day would take over, the reaction from Ohio State recruits and targets was overwhelmingly positive.

While not necessarily happy that Meyer was retiring, many expressed confidence that the university was replacing him with a coach who has proven he can win over recruits and win on the field.

ESPN 300 wide receiver Garrett Wilson, the top-ranked commit in the class for the Buckeyes, tweeted that he is still firmly committed.

Wilson said Meyer called him and his family Monday night to tell them he would be leaving, and Wilson is fully confident that Day can lead this team once Meyer is gone.

The Buckeyes currently have the No. 11-ranked recruiting class. There are 15 total commitments, 10 of which are ESPN 300 prospects. Of those 10 ESPN 300 prospects, seven are offensive players, so it seems natural there is little concern about the consistency and continuity going forward with Day at the helm.
