Rice coach Graham gets extension through 2012

HOUSTON -- Rice coach Todd Graham was given a contract
extension that will keep him with the Owls through 2012, after
leading the team to its first bowl game in 45 years in his first
season.

Rice athletic director Chris Del Conte announced the extension
on Tuesday, but it is unclear how long this extends his original
contract since those terms weren't released.

He helped the Owls rebound from a 1-10 record in 2005 to post a
6-2 Conference USA record and earn a berth in the New Orleans Bowl.
The Owls lost 41-17 in that game to finish with a 7-6 record.

The Owls lost to Kansas in the 1961 Bluebonnet Bowl.

"We know we have the right man for the job at Rice, and with
this extension, we have made a firm commitment to him and his
vision for Rice football in the future," Del Conte said.
