Johnson decides to stay at Vandy, withdraws name from Duke search

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Vanderbilt football coach Bobby Johnson
has withdrawn his name from consideration for the head coaching
vacancy at Duke.

Johnson said Tuesday he informed Vanderbilt vice chancellor
David Williams, who oversees athletics, and Duke that he will
remain at Vanderbilt.

Johnson met with officials from Duke about their coaching
vacancy on Monday in Durham, N.C. He has a 20-50 record since
arriving at Vanderbilt in 2002.

Former UCLA coach Karl Dorrell also was spotted on the Duke
campus Monday and former East Carolina coach and Boston College
assistant Steve Logan also is believed to be in consideration.

Ted Roof was fired as Duke's coach on Nov. 26 after posting a
6-45 record in four-plus seasons.
