Purdue running back Jaycen Taylor will miss the season with a torn ACL in his right knee, the team announced Tuesday.
An MRI performed Tuesday revealed the tear, and Taylor will undergo surgery in the near future. Taylor, who split carries with Kory Sheets for the last two seasons, is expected to return for a fifth year in 2009. Monday, the Boilermakers moved redshirt freshman Justin Siller from quarterback to running back.
Taylor, who missed four games last season due to a broken arm, injured his knee during practice on Sunday.
Taylor finished second on the team in rushing in each of the last two seasons. Last fall he had 560 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 107 carries, despite missing four games with a broken arm. His 5.62-yards-per-carry average ranks fourth on Purdue's career rushing list.
