Source: Marve narrows transfer list

Former Miami quarterback Robert Marve has completed the rounds and narrowed his transfer choices to Purdue, Arizona State, South Florida and Nebraska.

A person close to Marve said Monday that the Boilermakers currently are Marve's clear top choice, followed by Arizona State, with USF and Nebraska less likely.

Marve has developed a solid relationship with Purdue coach Danny Hope, who has strong Florida ties, and the recent departure of sophomore quarterback Justin Siller due to academic violations only enhances Marve's prospects. He also likes Purdue's academic programs, the source said.

Marve, who must sit out the 2009 season under NCAA transfer rules, is expected to make a decision in early May. Arizona State has accepted former Michigan quarterback Steven Threet as a transfer, making the Sun Devils a less likely destination for Marve, who so seriously is considering Purdue he's already developed a specific academic plan that would allow him to be accepted there.
