Jayhawks WR Briscoe OK to practice

Kansas Jayhawks receiver Dezmon Briscoe was academically eligible to participate Friday when the team opened practice.

Jayhawks coach Mark Mangino said his star needed to complete some summer classwork to be eligible for the fall.

Briscoe was suspended for most of the spring for violating team rules.

He set a Kansas record for most receiving yards (1,407) and receiving touchdowns (15) last season, when Briscoe had 269 receiving yards against Oklahoma.

Quarterback Todd Reesing said what makes Briscoe so good is that it takes three players to drag him down.

"His ability to run after the catch is what makes him such a threat," Reesing said.
