Irish, Terrapins set 2011 matchup

Notre Dame and Maryland will play at FedEx Field in Landover, Md., on Nov. 12, 2011, the Irish announced on Monday.

The game continues Notre Dame's plan of playing one off-site "home" game per year.

The first such game was held last year against Washington State in San Antonio.

The Irish will play Army in Yankee Stadium this season and are scheduled to play Arizona State at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, in 2013.

"As we have looked to move one game a season around the country, playing in the Washington D.C. area seemed a natural for us in terms of institutional fit," Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick said in a statement.

Notre Dame and Maryland have met once before, with the Irish winning 20-0 at Giants Stadium on Aug. 31, 2002.
