Iowa won't reinstate RB Adam Robinson

CHICAGO -- Iowa running back Adam Robinson will not return to the program, Hawkeyes coach Kirk Ferentz said Tuesday.

Robinson, who led the Hawkeyes in rushing in each of the past two seasons, was dismissed from the team following his December arrest for marijuana possession. Robinson already had been suspended from the Insight Bowl for a violation of team rules at the time of his arrest.

He remained in school on scholarship and was hoping to return to the team.

"He's going to be going somewhere else," Ferentz said Tuesday. "He's not going to be with us."

Robinson rushed for 1,775 yards and 15 touchdowns in two years as Iowa's starting running back.

Ferentz also said Tuesday that defensive back Willie Lowe will remain in school at Iowa but won't play for the team this season. Lowe was among the 13 Iowa players hospitalized with rhabdomyolysis in January.
