MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) -- Bruce Gradkowski threw for 207 yards and
three touchdowns in Toledo's 34-14 win over Ball State on Saturday.
Trinity Dawson ran for 146 yards and one touchdown as the
Rockets (4-1, 2-0 Mid-American Conference) held the Cardinals to
190 total yards.
Gradkowski hit John Allen with a 13-yard TD pass at 8:48 in the
first quarter to give the Rockets a 6-0 lead, but the Cardinals
blocked the extra point kick.
Three minutes later, Ball State's Louis Johnson blocked a Toledo
punt and Larry Bostic recovered the ball in the end zone for a
touchdown. Brian Jackson nailed the extra point to give the
Cardinals (1-4, 1-1) a 7-6 lead, their last of the game.
Toledo scored 21 unanswered points on a 10-yard run by Dawson
and Gradkowski passes of 18 and 32 yards respectively to Steve Odom
and Nick Moore, giving the Rockets a 27-7 lead at halftime.
Ball State's Darius Hill scored early in the third on a 16-yard
pass from Joey Lynch to narrow the gap to 27-14.
But Jordan Anthony intercepted a Lynch pass with 14:16 left in

Rockets the winning edge.
It was the 30th meeting between the two schools. Toledo owns a
