Rashad Jennings added 114 yards rushing and a long TD catch for the Flames (8-3, 4-0), who won here for the first time in 27 years. Liberty also handed Gardner-Webb (5-6, 2-2) its first shutout loss since September 2003 and its first home shutout loss in 22 years.
Liberty scored on its first three possessions, with Smith throwing for touchdowns on each drive to help the Flames build a 24-0 halftime lead.
