DALLAS -- Kyle Padron threw for 381 yards and three touchdowns to lead SMU to a 21-18 win over Tulsa on Saturday night.
It was the fourth time in Padron's career he threw more than 300 yards and marked the best start for the Mustangs (4-2, 3-0 USA) since 1986 when they started 5-1.
The Golden Hurricane (3-3, 1-2) got on the board first with a short scoring run by quarterback G.J. Kinne early in the first quarter.
Tulsa's Kevin Fitzpatrick hit a field goal later in the third quarter and Kinne ran for his second TD in the fourth to tighten the score to 21-18 with less than seven minutes left.
SMU slowed things down on the next drive, however, and held onto the ball for the win.
