It was an ugly win for Florida, and an ugly, weird, wild game to open the college football season. Between all the penalties and turnovers, the Gators gave the Hurricanes multiple chances to win the game. There is going to be a lot of reevaluating of where Florida stands after this one.

Florida did not look like the No. 8 team in the country in the first half against Miami, and after hearing all offseason about how much more explosive the offense would be with a changed Feleipe Franks -- the Gators have just seven points to show for their effort.

The first half has made it clear why Miami decided to go with Jarren Williams at quarterback. He's got a good arm, makes good decisions and has scrambling ability, too. He's outplayed Feleipe Franks, the guy who was *supposed* to be ready for prime time this year.

Neither Miami nor Florida has looked especially crisp in the early going. The Hurricanes have six penalties and are missing more than their share of tackles. The Gators have two fumbles and got their only score with the help of a fake punt. Perhaps they will settle down as the game goes on.

Tate Martell has been a source of intrigue at Miami since he lost the starting quarterback job. During warmups before the opener against Florida, he took snaps at receiver and N'Kosi Perry lined up at QB with the second team offense.
