Source: Mike Denbrock to be Irish OC

Notre Dame assistant Mike Denbrock will become the Fighting Irish's offensive coordinator, a source told ESPN.com on Tuesday.

Denbrock, the team's outside receivers coach, had held the "interim" offensive coordinator tag since Chuck Martin left Dec. 3 to become head coach at Miami (Ohio).

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly told ESPN's Joe Schad Tuesday morning that he would call offensive plays next season. Kelly had called the plays in his first three seasons before turning duties in 2013 over to Martin, who was Notre Dame's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Kelly also said that he would make an outside hire to coach the quarterbacks.

Notre Dame introduced new defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder on Tuesday afternoon. VanGorder, who spent 2013 as the New York Jets' linebackers coach, replaces Bob Diaco, who left to become head coach at UConn.
