Von Pearson suspended after sexual assault allegation

Tennessee wide receiver Von Pearson was suspended from team activities Friday after being named as a suspect in an alleged sexual assault.

No charges have been filed against Pearson, and the investigation is still in early stages, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

According to a Knoxville police incident report, the alleged assault took place at an off-campus apartment early Friday morning. Pearson is the only suspect named in the case, according to the incident report.

Tennessee suspended Pearson indefinitely later Friday. The Volunteers play their annual spring game Saturday afternoon.

Pearson had 38 catches for 393 yards and a team-leading five touchdowns last season.

Pearson is the sixth Tennessee player on last season's roster to have been accused of sexual assault, according to multiple media outlets.
