George O'Leary steps down as UCF interim AD, will remain football coach

George O'Leary said Monday he is stepping down from his role as Central Florida's interim athletic director immediately but will continue his duties as football coach.

Chief financial officer Brad Stricklin will take over the AD job. He was hired at UCF in 2006.

O'Leary has been UCF's football coach since the 2004 season. He was named the school's interim athletic director last June after Todd Stansbury accepted a position with Oregon State.

The Knights are 0-6 this season under O'Leary. They lost 40-13 to UConn on Saturday.
