The Oklahoma football team was delayed for more than eight hours at Oklahoma City's Will Rogers World Airport because of mechanical issues to a plane the Sooners were supposed to take to Manhattan, Kansas, for Saturday's game at Kansas State.
Oklahoma was scheduled to depart at 2:45 p.m. CT on Friday but was delayed because of a late-arriving plane. A mechanical issue to the plane caused a further delay.
The Sooners spent their time waiting in the terminal watching film. They finally took off at 11 p.m., after a delay of 8 hours, 15 minutes.
After watching film, the players watched Friday night's Cincinnati-BYU game and Game 1 of the ALCS between the Toronto Blue Jays and Kansas City Royals, according to Oklahoma SID Karl Anderson. Some of the coaches also brought in food for the players, according to Anderson.
Sooners athletic director Kenny Mossman took to Twitter to offer updates:
Not saying I'm bored out here, but I did look the definition of tarmac, which is actually short for tarmacadam.— Kenny Mossman (@Kenny_Mossman) October 17, 2015
I wonder if @KState_Football would be willing to meet us halfway and play in a parking lot or prairie, whichever works best— Ty Darlington (@TyDarlington56) October 17, 2015
