Despite the lowest winning percentage in school history, Darrell Hazell will be brought back as coach of the Purdue Boilermakers for a fourth season, a source told ESPN on Thursday.
Hazell's future had been in doubt because of his overall record of 6-26. Last week's upset of Nebraska was only the Boilermakers' second win in 20 Big Ten games under Hazell.
Before receiving a six-year deal at Purdue, Hazell compiled a 16-10 record at Kent State.
Purdue (2-6) hosts Illinois (4-4) on Saturday.
Hazell's return for a fourth season was earlier reported by Yahoo! Sports.
