Temple coach Matt Rhule has agreed to a new six-year deal with the Owls, the school announced.
Rhule had signed a four-year extension in the summer, through 2021. While the new deal covers the same length, the terms have changed, a source told ESPN, with a raise and facilities commitment expected from the Owls.
The school did not disclose financial terms.
Rhule, 40, had emerged as one of the hottest names on the coaching circuit as he led Temple to a 10-3 record and No. 24 ranking this year. The Owls lost to Houston on Saturday in the American Athletic Conference title game.
Rhule has led Temple to an 18-19 mark in three seasons at the school. The Owls will play their first bowl game under him on Dec. 22, when they face Toledo in the Marmot Boca Raton Bowl.
Rhule became Temple's coach in December 2012.
