Hurricanes LB Jamie Gordinier out for season with knee injury

The Miami Hurricanes' linebacker depth has taken yet another hit, as redshirt freshman Jamie Gordinier will miss the rest of the 2016 season after suffering a knee injury in Saturday's opener, the school said Sunday.

Gordinier had been battling in fall camp for a starting job and had one tackle in the Hurricanes' 70-3 win over Florida A&M. The Canes started three true freshmen at linebacker: Shaq Quarterman, Zach McCloud and Michael Pinckney.

Miami had dismissed starting linebacker Jermaine Grace one week before the season for violating NCAA rules. Another player implicated in the allegations, linebacker Juwon Young, had been suspended indefinitely and opted to leave the team and sign with Marshall.
