Michigan coach Brady Hoke said Monday that Denard Robinson "is close to 100 percent" and his decision on who would start at quarterback against Ohio State between the senior and junior Devin Gardner was "up in the air."
Robinson missed two starts at quarterback after reinjuring the ulnar nerve in his right elbow in the second quarter against Nebraska on Oct. 27. Robinson returned to action Saturday against Iowa, playing quarterback, running back and slot receiver. When he took snaps at quarterback, though, he did not attempt a pass. He also had the first two receptions of his career, for 24 yards.
Hoke said Robinson has been throwing passes in practice.
Meanwhile, Michigan running back Fitzgerald Toussaint is expected to be released from the hospital on Monday after having surgery on Saturday following an injury sustained against Iowa.
Hoke would not say what the junior had surgery on, but Toussaint's left leg was immobilized as he was carted off the field during the Wolverines' 42-17 victory. Hoke said he hopes Toussaint is back for the start of next season.
Toussaint was injured in the first quarter while finishing off a run.
He had 31 yards on three carries against the Hawkeyes. As Michigan's starting running back, Toussaint had 514 yards and five touchdowns this season.
Last season, he posted 1,041 yards and nine touchdowns.
Michigan likely will replace Toussaint with a combination of sophomore Thomas Rawls and senior Vincent Smith. Robinson, fourth on Michigan's career rushing list with 4,273 yards, could line up there as well.
