Les Miles has gained more than 87,000 followers on Twitter, making him the most popular college football coach on the social media network, according to a study conducted by USA Today.
As of 5 p.m. ET Tuesday, Miles (@LSUCoachMiles) had 87,513 Twitter followers, almost 6,000 more than Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly (@CoachBrianKelly).
Known for his flamboyant personality, Miles has been extremely successful in his eight seasons at LSU. He has compiled an 85-20 record while guiding the Tigers to a BCS national championship following the 2007 season.
Kelly, who has 81,878 followers, easily is the second most popular coach on Twitter, according to USA Today.
Georgia's Mark Richt (@MarkRicht) is third with 55,224 followers while Tennessee's Butch Jones (@UTCoachJones), hired by the school on Dec. 7, is fourth thanks to gaining 52,704 followers in less than two weeks.
Washington's Steve Sarkisian (@CoachSark) rounds out the top five, according to USA Today, with 43,235 followers.
