Jadeveon Clowney's shoulder may keep him off the field for South Carolina's first game of the season.
"If (Clowney's shoulder) doesn't come around real soon, we may play without him the first game. ... We've got a bunch of hurt guys who act like they are really hurt so right now they may not play," coach Steve Spurrier said, according to ABC affiliate WOLO.
Clowney didn't practice Monday, and sat out Saturday's scrimmage with a sore shoulder.
The Gamecocks' 6-foot-6, 274-pound All-American took to Twitter on Monday to assess how his shoulder is feeling.

Defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward said Saturday there was nothing to worry about.
Ward said Clowney's condition wasn't serious and the defensive lineman wasn't expected to play much anyway as coaches got a look at South Carolina's younger defenders.
"I guess he bruised it, but it's fine," Ward said. "We weren't going to play him anyway."
Receivers Bruce Ellington and Damiere Byrd are also in danger of missing the first game, according to Spurrier.
