Oregon? ❌‬ ‪Washington? ❌‬ ‪USC? ❌‬ ‪Utah? ❌‬ ‪PAC-12 once again may be out of the playoff in September. Allstate Playoff Predictor says Oregon is the most likely PAC-12 to make the playoff at 8 percent.

USC and Clay Helton record a redemptive 30-23 win over No. 10 Utah to take control of the Pac-12 South. The Trojans overcame the loss of QB Kedon Slovis and received a huge lift from Matt Fink, a talent-stocked receiving corps and a defense that made big plays when it mattered. Utah was uncharacteristically sloppy and not-opportunistic, making all the mistakes you can't have on the road against a talented opponent.

Utah converts Matt Fink's first interception into a short touchdown drive to close within four points again. This game feels like it will come down to which team makes the last catastrophic mistake. USC still must find an offense outside of throwing jump balls to its receivers. Utah is up to 11 penalties for 90 yards, a stat that usually equates to a loss on the road. Can the Utes play a clean fourth quarter? If so, they'll likely prevail.

An sloppy yet entertaining first half ends with USC leading 14-10, following touchdowns on its first two possessions. Neither team could avoid the penalty flag -- 9 for Utah, 6 for USC -- or turnovers in opposing territory. Utah consistently moved the ball and capitalized on USC's defensive miscues but couldn't translate 284 yards into more points. USC's offense needs to regroup after generating no run game (minus-12 net yards). That's a lot to put on Matt Fink's shoulders in the second half.

Utah cuts USC's lead to 14-10 after one of the stranger scoring drives of the season. Both teams drew personal foul penalties (Utah's on coach Kyle Whittingham), the Utes erased second-and-25 from their own 5-yard line with a 30-yard run. USC's defense continues to benefit from Utah holding penalties, as the Utes are averaging 7.4 yards per rush when they avoid the yellow flag.
